He was accused. He was not charged. He is now a free man. Sounds reasonable. He comes from the same village in CM as Thailand's 2nd most loved man.

Meanwhile police are seeking the real arsonists.:clap2:

I thought PM Prayuth came from Nakhon Ratchasima?

Let me guess: he's from a hi-so family.

Thais abhor disciplining Thais, particularly if from rich or VIP families.  It's particularly evident re; politicians and anyone in uniform.

The suspect entering the monkhood for a week for 'atonement' actually casts aspersions at the monkhood as much as Thai limp-wristedness.   It's like Nom Sod (initial top suspect for double murder on Ko Tao two yrs ago) going to monkhood for a week - thereby being further untouchable by Thai authorities.  Oh, and he was from a very rich family.  Connect the dots.

Finished your little rant now then. You said it all at the beginning of your post LET ME GUESS.

This guy needs his ass beaten... for sure Hi-So.  The simple Thais, so easily impressed by baht.   What a joke!   Whip his ass....if this was Wally Whiteman, our ass would be grass.  Thailand seems to have become so second tier...it's a shame.

It would be interesting to know more about this guy's background to see if money played a part in his being released. This whole fiasco has smell of a payoff.

Barring a background of arson or similar activities, I don't see what his history has to do with it! Or are you saying that if his family are wealthy then money DID play a part in his being released?
A biased nose will smell what it wants to smell!

At risk of becoming the lynch mob's next target, could it not be possible that he IS innocent AND that his family are influentially wealthy, and that the "quiet release" was to prevent embarrassment to the police, and the air ticket was 'atonement' to him and his family for his wrongful arrest and interrogatory beating?
I don't KNOW!... Do YOU?

His reasons for going to temple are his own and none of my (or your) business!

But if you KNOW something about it, then you should get on to the authorities in Bangkok, as well as the national press, and give them the evidence you obviously have.

These know-it-all comments from the bar stool experts are a welcomed reminder of why I moved out into the wilds of the north where it is unlikely I'll run into any westerners!

You're assuming he has done something criminal. Reports in the media suggest he was in no way linked to the bombing and nobody knows why the police picked him up. There has never been any scrap of evidence presented for his arrest.

Perhaps, but what has the truth to do with click bail LOL

What the hell is a arsonist !?!?

A simple google would have saved you from being an ass.

Arsonist: a person who commits arson.

Arson: the crime of intentionally starting a fire in order to damage or destroy something, esp. a building. arsonist.

Sounds reasonable and fair, but why was he released quietly and "escorted" to the airport and put on a paid (?) flight to Chiang Rai AND why does he suddenly feel the urge to join monkhood for 7 days?

Don't believe everything you read in the press to suit an agenda.Released quietly just means he was let out the front door without the media parasites being told. They drove him to the airport.Who knows if he is going to be a monk and who really cares and the airfare payment is compensation for missed flight. All easily explained if you think past the headlines.

My explanation is boring and doesn't sell newspapers or get cliks. The other story feeds the paranoia and keeps the money rolling in.

So what happened?,the police realise that it would be very difficult

for him to commit arson while he was on an oil rig in the middle

of the Gulf of Thailand ?or maybe they thought he swam there

and back,

I have a suggestion for the Thai authorities. When a suspect is rounded up who is suspected of domestic terrorism, let the Military try him in a military court. Somehow I suspect they might not be as lenient, nor as susceptible to gifts and prizes, as the fabulously ineffective, weak, cowardly, and submissive civilian courts are here in the LOS.

Otherwise, just give up, and hand him over to one of your neighboring countries, where they actually have law and order.

Of course, it is inevitable that he comes from a rich family, where no discipline was imposed since the time this worm was born, and he is continuing to be coddled by ineffective, and loser parents, who refuse to even acknowledge their son is now a real criminal. Here, if you are worth a certain amount, you are above the law. Any and all laws. Especially those of the little man.

Your last paragraph is based on what,<deleted>.You have slurred and defamed a man and his parents.Pretty safe hiding behind a keyboard.I suggest you put up or shut up.

So the police paid for his flight? That is nice. Since when have the police paid for a person's flight? Obviously what is reported is just the tip of the iceberg.

Next the police will pay for helmets for all the bikers they catch without one? Figures...

I think atonement was a word lost in translation. Think he is going to the wat to cleanse himself of bad luck. Bad things have happened to him and its Thai culture to rid this bad luck.

Atonement is the correct word but fertile minds on TVF only think one way. They are being set up by a headline.
