JayBeeee
At risk of becoming the lynch mob's next target, could it not be possible that he IS innocent AND that his family are influentially wealthy, and that the "quiet release" was to prevent embarrassment to the police, and the air ticket was 'atonement' to him and his family for his wrongful arrest and interrogatory beating? I don't KNOW!... Do YOU? His reasons for going to temple are his own and none of my (or your) business! But if you KNOW something about it, then you should get on to the authorities in Bangkok, as well as the national press, and give them the evidence you obviously have. These know-it-all comments from the bar stool experts are a welcomed reminder of why I moved out into the wilds of the north where it is unlikely I'll run into any westerners! Don't believe everything you read in the press to suit an agenda.Released quietly just means he was let out the front door without the media parasites being told. They drove him to the airport.Who knows if he is going to be a monk and who really cares and the airfare payment is compensation for missed flight. All easily explained if you think past the headlines. My explanation is boring and doesn't sell newspapers or get cliks. The other story feeds the paranoia and keeps the money rolling in.

When a suspect is rounded up who is suspected of domestic terrorism, let the Military try him in a military court. Somehow I suspect they might not be as lenient, nor as susceptible to gifts and prizes, as the fabulously ineffective, weak, cowardly, and submissive civilian courts are here in the LOS. Otherwise, just give up, and hand him over to one of your neighboring countries, where they actually have law and order. Of course, it is inevitable that he comes from a rich family, where no discipline was imposed since the time this worm was born, and he is continuing to be coddled by ineffective, and loser parents, who refuse to even acknowledge their son is now a real criminal. Here, if you are worth a certain amount, you are above the law. Any and all laws. Especially those of the little man. Your last paragraph is based on what,<deleted>.You have slurred and defamed a man and his parents.Pretty safe hiding behind a keyboard.I suggest you put up or shut up. boomerangutang
If I was head monk at the wat, I wouldn't have accepted him. In Zen Buddhist tradition, monks are encouraged to leave, to test their mettle in wanting to stay. In Thai Buddhist tradition, they'll accept any dregs that get sucked in the gate.
