KRABI, 8 September 2016 (NNT)-Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Narong Pipatanasai has visited Krabi province to attend a meeting and observe progress in public service works being undertaken in the province.

Admiral Narong and the Inspector General of the Inspector-General's Office 7 presided over the meeting at Krabi City Hall which the provincial Governor, Pinit Boonlert, and relevant agencies attended.

They were briefed on the progress of projects involving waste management, the implementation of economic stimulus measures to help farmers and poor families, and the work of the Dam Rong Tham Center in solving social issues.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he will continue to promote waste treatment efforts in Krabi as around 600,000 tons of waste still remains untreated. The Office of Muang Krabi Municipality has already requested 25 million baht from a relevant agency to address the problem but the request is still pending approval.

The Admiral later expressed concern over tourist safety following explosions and the incidence of arson in seven of the southern provinces last month. He has instructed all safety units to do their best to ensure safety for tourists.
