I got stopped at the Hollywood Club in Huay Khwang area, fortunately the police allowed me in, with my California Driver's license... (probably thinking we Know a lot about Hollywood?) If you been here a long time you know the Thai police can do whatever they want. Including fining you for not having your passport on you. It is the law. But yes, most of the time, a photocopy is fine. Most of the time. It is a criminal offense not to carry it, so really it is you who is being silly by posting your past experience as if it simply must be also the case for the future, thing change, we had a coup, we are supposed to carry our passports. Go get em tiger Well, I have been coming for 17 years and lived here permanently for 5 years and the reason I posted that is that I think making people aware of the actual law and potential outcomes is more valuable than the likes of you posting what you recon will probably be alright.
