Why do foreigners still assume Thai girls are easy?

I think it is very annoying to read on blog spots that Thailand is some kind of magical utopia for single men. Easy women are all around wanting to date white men. However the reality looks very different. I am living and working here and while the women are friendly and nice to talk too I actually think it is harder to date a Thai woman than to date in the West. 

I know the bar scene is a different story.

I think it also depends on the person. Some people are handsome, some are not, some have good social skill and some have none.

When I look at my wife's friends there are many the same age as her that are single. They don't have children, they are financially independent and they speak very good English (and some speak a third language). They have good jobs and are very pleasant to look at. They have all studied and/or travelled abroad and while they are Thai they are also open minded about other countries and cultures. Most of them would like to date a good guy (Thai or otherwise), but they have difficulty finding anyone.

 

There is definitely opportunity for good quality guys who mix in the right circles.

I find it is amusing that you are differentiating between the men, yet using "thai women" as an all encompassing term.

Well women seem to have a general standard of what they are looking in a man.

I too have found it is very easy to socialise with Thai women. I wouldn't call myself good looking by any stretch of the imagination. My Thai vocabulary is limited. Have found that if you make them smile and laugh you a re half way there. Being a 'gentleman' is an absolute must. Some liasons can lead to more romantic things and some don't. I find never go out looking for a sexual relationship if the girl likes you she will let you know.

mate, I am 63(dont look it though) and happily married but I have had very nice younger women suggest we get together, I am simply not interested and tell them so. I take it as a compliment and actually laugh it off, how any man cannot find a nice female here is beyond me. Even my wifes friends have asked me to help them find a guy and they are all very nice, single, no kids, own their own house/land and are in good jobs, they simply want a non thai guy(they dont trust the thai men), if  a western man cant find himself a nice lady there has to be something wrong with him.

Thai women are easy to approach and socialize unless you are socially awkward or if you are an outright rude person.

I would have to say it is easier here, than in the West, for sure. However there are alot of variables. Just like in the west, you have to have something to offer, in the way of humor, good looks, a playful spirit, the ability to communicate, the willingness to go out of your way, the courage to do so, an optimistic nature, a certain degree of affection and respect for local people, a nice, well groomed appearance, and in some cases the ability to offer at least some financial security. No doubt the bar has been raised over the past 10 years, and most Thai women are looking for more in a foreigner, than before.

 

But, there are alot of nice Thai women out there, who would like nothing more than a good foreign man, to hook up with.

Seconded. There are women who are looking for decent men however some foreigners still think that just by being a from a rich country gives them some kind of a bonus and then they end up with nothing to offer. Resulting them to becoming bitter and saying that women are the same everywhere.

on the basis of what one ex - girlfriend told me in the 70's, jagger's genital bulges and abilities far exceeded his financial ones for a loooong time...

Are you joking? I disagree big time. Thai girls are lovely and sexy, and they crave attention. I have been fortunate enough to have dated and bedded quite a few non-bar girls some more than 10 years younger than me.

girls dont care that much about looks as long as you are a good provider. materialism  is far worse than back in the western world. all you do is ask a thai girl you know if she has any friends who like western men. they will almost always come up with a list of potential mates, unless you are flat broke of course. if you are good looking they dont even care if you are broke.

Bar girls and other sex workers aside, for many years I found it very easy to approach Thai women and get hooked up. Money can help, but with straight women it takes more than that. Looks aren't that important. What you need is the ability to make them laugh and have a fun time. Thai women are very playful and fun loving and if you can give them that, and plenty of respect and flattery, you'll be overwhelmed with potential girlfriends.

 

Even as a married man, I still have lots of opportunities with women who are well aware that I'm married. Also, my wife's nieces, cousins, and friends are constantly asking me to help them find a farang boyfriend or husband.

 

Again, bar girls aside: If you can't get laid in Thailand then you might as well become a monk.

I have signed up to a thai dating website. I received lots of interest and messages but got fed up with too many conversations surrounding the conversation of money. One particular girl was looking for "true love" but also wanted 5,000,000 baht from a westerner for the entitlement to marry her. She had already been married to a Thai man and had children. 

I changed my profile adding, "please do not talk or ask about money". Guess what? The interest in me has dropped by 95 percent.

I'm not making any judgements but what does this tell you?

Pick up girls, at tesco, in front of 7/11, movies, book stores, Index Living, beach, park, lobby of most offices,

I would be very cautious of a "banging" a "girl" that surreptitiously slid me her number in front of a 7/11 or Tesco with her husband/bf nearby.   If "girls" are falling off trees like ripe mangoes, I would seek to avoid unnecessary drama of shagging some Thai guy's bird.

Indubitably. Here girls of all ages smile at you. They want a better way of life. My young g/f always gets looks of envy everywhere we go from shop clerks to mop pushers in our condo. My Skype is constantly bombarded by girls in other countries looking to "chat" Its the new short cut phenomenon of life. The value of money has depreciated/inflationized by 96% over the last 60 years while prices of everyday items have increased. Its the old saying "A dollar does not buy what it used to and the value of money earned has declined drastically"

absolutely agree. there are many educated, professional, financially independent and attractive women out there looking for a decent guy.

 

the problem for many foreigners is that most of these women will not look at any guy who hangs around bars or the bar scene.

Sorry mate...I find that rather hard to believe that Thai girls are slipping you their number ,whilst with their husbands or boyfriends in lotus! Lol.  I'm in great shape and have been all my life,lived in Thailand since my early thirties ....usually I'm far too modest to say I'm a good looking bloke, but in response to your post....I'm a good looking bloke, and I have never had a Thai girl act like that in front of their hubby towards me and I have never seen it happen or hear of it happening to anyone else in a place like tesco lotus. Sorry just find that hard to believe...but yes Asian girls are far more approachable than western girls in general.
