Jonathan Fairfield Posted September 26, 2016 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Portuguese man o’ war warning issued at Phi Phi Island Tanyaluk Sakoot PHUKET: The Chief of the Hat Nopparat Thara - Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park today (Sept 26) issued a warning to tourists to beware Portuguese man o’ war after the dangerous stingers were found in Maya Bay over the weekend. The warning follows Sirinath National Park Chief Kitipas Tharapibal ordering a ban on water activities at Nai Thon and Nai Yang in Phuket on Saturday after the jellyfish-like stingers were found washed ashore at those popular beaches. “Our officers conducted inspections in risk areas by speedboat and found Portuguese man o’ war in Maya Bay, at Phi Phi Lei Island,” Phi Phi Chief Park Sarayut Thantian explained in his warning issued today. Jonathan Fairfield Posted September 26, 2016 Author Share Posted September 26, 2016 Warning not to swim in Phi Phi, Koh Pai and Poda islands after sighting of Portuguese man-of-war KRABI:-- Tourists are warned not to venture into the sea at and around Phi-Phi islands, Koh Mai Pai and Poda islands in the Nopparat Thara-Phi Phi islands after Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish-like creatures were spotted in the sea. The warning was issued on Monday by Mr Sarayuth Tanthien, chief of Nopparat Thara- Phi Phi islands national marine park, to tour operators and tourists visiting the islands not to swim or engage in any activities in the sea off the islands because of the dangers posed by the poisonous creatures whose stings may cause sudden death. The warning also advised victims not to use vinegar or fresh water to wash the sting wounds but to use a lot of sea water to wash the wounds and then have the victims quickly rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
