Change from Retirement Extension to Marriage Extension

Recommended Posts

Hi, a friends retirement extension is due for renewal next month but, with the demise of the GBP, he is now likely to be 1-1.5k baht short of the 65,000 baht per month requirement (and not enough money seasoned in his bank account).

He has lived with his girlfriend for nearly two years now and they've always intended getting married next year. They're now thinking of bringing that forward and getting married now so he could re-new his extension based on marriage.

But another friend has just told him he can't change his extension to one based on marriage until he's been married for at least six months. Can anybody tell me if this time constraint is true as I've known people change to an extension based on marriage before but have never heard/read about any restriction like this before.?

The is no rule that states you must be married for any amount of time to apply for an extension based upon marriage.

Newlyweds do face greater scrutiny than others that have been married for a period of time.

Thanks for your knowledge and usual quick response.
