SURAT THANI: -- A police informer has been found tied, hooded and riddled with bullets. He was dumped by the side of the road in Surat Thani.

Sawiat district police said that 21 year old Sakon Inthaworn was a hairdresser who had helped police with information about the activities of drugs dealers, reports Daily News.

He was found in undergrowth near a bridge on the Sawiat - Vipawadee road on Thursday. A motorcycle was abandoned nearby.

He had multiple gunshot wounds to his head, shoulder and arm. These had been inflicted with a revolver. His head was tied in a hood. His neck was trussed in nylon and his hands were tied behind his back.

There were no signs of a struggle or other evidence at the scene so police said that he was clearly executed elsewhere. Later on some 3 kilometers away they found the execution site in a shack in a palm plantation.

The victim's mother said that he had driven off on his motorcycle on Wednesday saying he was going to the dentist. He was not seen again.

Police said that the gruesome nature of the execution style killing was meant as a warning to other informers in the area.

They said that the victim had previously told them he believed that drugs dealers suspected he was an informer.

"...Police said that the gruesome nature of the execution style killing was meant as a warning to other informers in the area..."

No mention of what action the cops are going to do in an effort to solve this crime - really guaranteed to inspire confidence in the local "police".

From what we read on Thaivisa, it seems that a lot of criminal activity in Thailand is only solved through tip-offs. So, if the cops can't (or won't) protect their main source of information, then their clean-up rate is set to plummet.

But, then again, maybe the local cops want it this way???

That has got to be one of the most asinine posts I have read in a long time.

Yeah, let drug dealing scum act without doing anything to stop them. <deleted> your community and just let them get on with it, eh?

A  lot  of very harsh response directed at the victim here.   How do you know how he came to be an informant in the first place?  He may have been coerced by the local police to  identify  dealers  so that the local police chief could bump off his competition and monopolise the local trade.  Or  perhaps he fell foul of his handlers for whatever reason and the police killed him themselves .  I wouldn't put anything past Thai law enforcement.

And of course the police couldn't care less. Way to go to get any future informer's trust.

He has just heard lines like that in movies and thought it would be cool to write it here.
