rooster59 Posted November 5, 2016 Share Posted November 5, 2016 Locals demand shutdown of Tigyit coal-fired power plant in Shan State Civil society organizations and locals launched a campaign on Thursday, demanding the complete shutdown of the Tigyit coal-fired power plant after a test run following two years of closure. According to the Irrawaddy Online, U Win Shein Myat, chairman of the Shan State Farmers and Farmland Workers Union, said locals were unhappy with the test run because they had suffered a lot of health risks and environment damage from the fallouts of the plant during the ten-year period when the plant was operational.
