"We only take cash!" - Cambodian monks show the Thais how it's done

Twenty five Cambodian monks have been arrested and defrocked in Petchaburi after complaints from an abbot and members of the public.

The monks had been going on their alms rounds every day but with a difference - they told everyone they didn't want the traditional food - they only took cash!

A huge arresting party including police, soldiers and the deputy provincial governor descended on Wat Tha Siri in Ton Mamuang sub-district to make the arrests yesterday.

Three of the monks tested positive for drug use after urine samples turned purple.

The authorities discovered that the monks - 23 adults and two novices - were in fact real monks registered in Cambodia. But they had sneaked into Thailand illegally from Poipet and travelled down to Petchaburi.

The abbot of the Wat Tha Siri temple where they were staying dobbed them in to the authorities after complaints from the locals in the area.

They were all defrocked for their illegal activities and prepared for deportation back to Cambodia.

Yes sure, the monks here don't have a clue how to make money from Tigers and other lucrative ideas. 

No monk will ever be able to drive a Ferrari here.

even my feeling is that they are sometimes doing better then any mafia boss in this country!

So why should somebody   bend down his had for a monk as you never know it's a good one or another pain in the ...

bullshit! there have been cases where monks had huge mansions,  expensive cars,  girls and whatever u can imagine, and people still worship them

Blacklist - Being denied a particular privilege at certain sites.

Defrocked - Removal of rights to exercise the said function.
