PHUKET: -- A man was arrested for robbing a French couple in Cherng Talay last night.

The tourists (whose names have been withheld by police request) flew back to France this morning after being reunited with their belongings shortly after the incident occurred.

“According to the couple’s statement and witnesses’ accounts, they were walking near Zscape Condo, between Cherng Talay and Baan Don, when a man approached them, snatched their bag and took off,” said Lt Col Sakon Krainara of Cherng Talay Police.

And the 'suspects' face is shown in the news article.

Fairly recently the media were instructed that the canot show faces of suspects in media photos becaue it breaks the laws about innocent until proven guilt.

Also just recently more proclamations about media reform.

Quickly it's reverted to many media photos showing photos.

So no media reform, keeping Thailand 100 years behind the times in this subject area.

It is a bit like Brazilia they have runners and they focus on innocent looking farangs it is the way it goes

Or Italy. It is an epidemic there. And I think the police are in charge. The victims submit their reports to the police and at night the thieves drop in to hand over the obligatory share. The thieves can’t cheat the police because they have a perfect record of the day’s thefts.

We lost more than half a million Baht there. Obviously we will never again spend a holiday in Italy.
