snoop1130 Posted January 5, 2017 Share Posted January 5, 2017 Severe weather warning issued for Phuket, southern provinces Kongleaphy Keam PHUKET:-- The Phuket Marine Office (PMO) today issued a warning for all boats to proceed with caution and for small boats to not leave shore tomorrow or Saturday, due to large waves and predictions of heavy rain. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather warning, titled ‘Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Lower South and Strong Wind Waves in Gulf’, about 11am today, cautioning people of possible flash floods as well. The warning states that strong northeast monsoon winds still prevail over the Gulf of Thailand and the south, and persistent rains are forecast with 'torrential' rain for Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhorn Sri Thammarat, Phatthalung and Ranong. Plus as I said, marine office will forbid boats to sail if they deem it dangerous. I know I cancel if deemed unsafe, which was in the past always before a weather warning was issued. I am glad that I did not fly into Phuket with plans to holiday there and further south. I see it on the news and it is a total mess.
