webfact Posted January 16, 2017 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Southern region warned of new round of flooding BANGKOK: -- The Meteorological Department today issued the latest warning of danger from heavy rains, landslides and flashfloods in the southern region now still inundated by floods in some areas. It forecast increases rainfalls from today until end of the week after the arrival of high pressure system from China and now has already blanketed the upper region of the country. The presence of the system would strengthen the northeasterly wind flow now covering the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region. As a consequence, it said increased rains are expected in the South from January 16-18 with heavy rains in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. It said that afterwards, or from January 19-20, heavy rains will be expected in some areas, particularly Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Trang and Satun.
