webfact Posted January 25, 2017 Share Posted January 25, 2017 American teacher wanted for drug trafficking in US arrested in Krabi KRABI: -- An American teacher at an international school in Krabi province wanted by the US drug enforcement agency for narcotic trafficking charge was arrested today in the southern tourist town. The arrest followed request made to the Royal Thai Police commissioner by the US Embassy in Bangkok to locate the suspect, Mr Alexander Jonathan Rosen, and arrest him for drug charges after US tracking revealed he escaped into Thailand. Upon request by the US, checking of his enter and leave record by the Immigration Bureau showed he entered Thailand seven times in the past one year from October last year to January this year. He first entered the country in October 2015 via Suvarnabhumi airport immigration office. The other two entries were through border checkpoints at Sadao district of Songkhla. The last entry in October last year was through Krabi airport’s immigration office. chrisinth Posted January 25, 2017 Share Posted January 25, 2017 IMO, unless stricter vetting is done for the education system in this country, these sort of arrests are going to continue. This is not a dig at teachers working here, for the vast majority of them I truly feel sorry because of the few that messes it up for the rest. And before the remarks against the immigration allowing this guy's entry & exit history; they didn't know because they weren't informed by the American authorities until recently. If you can read you also would know that he is arrested for deportation regarding a crime in US related to drug dealing. Actually this is no slight on the Thai system at all. The Thais as soon as notified have acted swiftly and seemingly relatively discreetly. Well done BIB! Given the lack of info on this guy it is highly unlikely this guy is a 'big fish' in any way and this is probably a very small scale traffic offence. For all we know he has a clean criminal record (at least for now as he is yet to be convicted and there is even a slim possibility he is innocent).
