PATTAYA: -- The Pattaya Court Thursday issued arrest warrants against a Briton and a South African man accusing of murdering a British businessman in Pattaya on Tuesday.

Chon Buri police chief Pol Maj Gen Somprasong Yenthuam said the court approved the warrants against Miles Dicken Turner, who holds a British passport, and Abel Caldeira Bonito, who holds a South African passport.

They were charged with collaborating in killing Tony Kenway, 39, and with having gun and ammunition in control without license as well as carrying firearms in public place.

Somprasong said immigration record showed that the two had fled to Cambodia via an immigration checkpoint in Trat at 3 pm on Tuesday, not long after killing Kenway.

By Teeranai Charuvastra, Staff Reporter

A still image from a security camera police say shows Miles Turner in front and Abel Bonito on the back of a motorcycle on Tuesday.

CHONBURI — A court issued arrest warrants Wednesday for two foreigners accused of gunning down a British businessman in broad daylight earlier this week.

Briton Miles Dicken Turner and South African Abel Caldeira Bonito were named by police as the perpetrators responsible for the execution-style killing of Tony Kenway, 39, in Chonburi province on Tuesday. Although police would not confirm any motive on record, officers privately said they suspect it to be a case of an illicit business dispute that turned deadly.

Police release info regarding potential Killers in murder case

PATTAYA: -- Police are launching a manhunt for the killers in a murder case. A Briton and a South African man are now suspected of being involved with the murder of a British businessman in Chon Buri, a police source said.

The source said police are looking for Miles Dickens Turner, who holds a British passport, and Abel Caldeira Bonito, who holds a South African passport.

The two were found to have registered their names to rent a white motorcycle seen on security cameras as being used by the gunman.

The unidentified gunman shot and killed Tony Kenway, 39, on Tuesday.

The source said Turner entered Thailand for the first time on November 25 at the Suvernabhumi Airport and left Thailand on November 26. He re-entered Thailand on January 19 through an immigration checkpoint in Trat and left Thailand again via the same Trat checkpoint on January 24.

Bonitor entered Thailand for the first time on January 19 through the Trat border checkpoint and left the kingdom via the Trat checkpoint on January 24.

Kenway’s wife Somporn, 32, told police her husband recently had a business conflict with a former shareholder in their website design company at Jomtien beach but did not know if it was the motive for the murder.

A source close to the investigation said Ms Somporn’s statements corresponded to the findings that Kenway had interests in a football gambling website which led him to a conflict with another group of foreigners. Kenway had met the group twice to try to settle their differences but to no avail. This might be the motive for the killing, the source said.

Kenway was known to police and immigration officials as in 2015 he had been arrested and charged with working without a valid work permit and employing aliens. He was on bail and awaiting trial for these offenses.

Additionally journalists have now discovered that Kenway had an interest in a ‘call-center operation,’ otherwise known as ‘boiler rooms,’ that were established to encourage foreigners to invest money locally in business and property.

It is a matter of record that these phony investment schemes led to the losses of millions of baht for victims and in September 2016 Kenway was arrested and charged with fraud.

He denied all charges and, despite officials encouraging him to leave the country, he insisted he was innocent and wanted to stay and face trial later in the year. Kenway was on police bail at the time of his murder. His next court appearance was scheduled for February 23.

Nong Prue police called in Ms Somporn and six witnesses for additional inquiries on Wednesday. Pol Maj Jeerasak Aabfang, an inquiry officer, declined to comment on the progress of the case, saying only that the slain businessman had four houses but lived with Ms Somporn at a housing estate in Bang Lamung.

If, or more like when, they realize his assets were obtained immorally and are therefore  'proceeds of crime' I hope they strip the lot away.

There is more than a suspicion he is a 'wrongun'

Well IF these are the villains.....it looks like they don't own Porsche cars....or dress like people who do !

A possible answer might be that they were broke riding a rental bike and the guy that was shot maybe bought the Porsche with money that was stolen from them. It looks like a grudge killing to  me.

When does it ever require two people to rent a motorbike?  Plenty of places don't even need one passport..!

Why do you have to question minor details while important facts like CCTV cameras caught them red handed!?

Another example of the failure of the "bad guys stay in, good guys kept out" immigration policy and the end result was the bad guy died.  This guy had been involved in a company which illegally employed foreign workers, had his own immigration violations, was involved in an illegal football gambling operation, and ran a fraudulent stock investment "boiler-room", the last venture being directly related to his murder which probably was a dispute over the profits.  The real victims are his wife, his children, and all the relatively innocent people that were defrauded by his illegal stock investment scheme.

This guy should have been either deported, or in jail, and the fact that he wasn't demonstrates the failure of the junta's immigration policy.  Lawyers in Thailand, which include prosecutors, are generally lazy and drag their feet on everything.  As a result, his criminal prosecution never went anywhere.  On the other hand, immigration could have just deported and blacklisted him.  Fortunately for the Thai government, he is dead, so they won't have to prosecute him for his crimes in Thailand, and they can now prosecute a much easier case against his business partner, if they can ever extricate him from Cambodia or beyond.

This was quick and very well executed investigation with good results in identifying the murders

Now catch them and let's find out why they did it But my guess is that it has to do with money

murder is nearly always about drugs, money or love

One rented the motorbike, the other crossed the border with the motorbike renter. Then they worked out they were together.

Probably cctv at border crossing showed them together and still in the same clothes etc.

Good Work BiB..Fast too...At least you have suspects who will have there day in front of a Judge

No!!!    What's the chance they will be arrested?

It's obvious Thailand CCTV and plate readers are up and running.   I think the crooks didn't know this.   If the public knew how many plate readers there are and how good they work they would revolt.   No wonder the book 1984 is on best seller list again.     I Just wonder on how many static plate readers are in USA if Thailand has them?  I was told that plate readers have no problems with closure speeds of 120 mph.  I know some will say, but it's ok I don't break the law so why Should I care if CCTV and plate readers, facial rec systems are everywhere?

I don't believe he was found guilty of anything, so then he is presumed innocent on all the things you wrote.....and he was murdered. So not guilty by execution.

"About dead nothing than good" but anyway, it seems to call him businessman is not the correct name for his business

In Australia he would be referred to in the newspapers and police statements as "Well-known Sydney identity and businessman ... "

Something tells me here, that the two guys being named as the killers by police are probably NOT the ones who instigated this killing. More than likely, they were just the foot soldiers for some higher up(s) who wanted Kenway gone.

Probably, someone(s) who drive around in Mercedes and/or Porsche cars like the deceased. And likewise own multiple houses in Thailand. That profile really doesn't look like it fits the two guys on the motorcycle.

Whether the police will ever get to the actual party/parties responsible, or whether they have any desire to do so, remains to be seen.

BTW - If you knew you were going to go to shoot and kill someone in broad daylight traveling via a rented motorcycle, how dumb would you have to be to leave your real passport info with the motorcycle rental shop? Just saying...  Unless, of course, the presented passport IDs are fakes or belong to two uninvolved guys somewhere other than the actual shooters.

Thai police are always getting mocked on here for their apparent ineptitude. This story proves that they DO investigate crimes thoroughly when it's in the public interest to do so.  Job well done in identifying the perpetrators so quickly :clap2:

The fact that both killers arrived in Thailand for their first ever visit just a few days before the killing and left immediately after suggests they were brought here for the specific purpose, perhaps by other big scamsters who are driving around in porsches.
