webfact Posted January 27, 2017 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Floods kill 90 in 12 provinces SURAT THANI: -- The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that of all the 129 districts in 12 southern provinces stricken by floods, now only seven provinces remain flooded. A total of 90 have died from floods, it said. Still flooded are Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thamarat, Yala , Narathiwat, Pattani, Songhkla and Phatthalung. Overall, the southern flooding has affected over 1.8 million people and has devastated 587,544 homes. In total, 90 people lost their lives to floods. Yesterday Prime Minster Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha inspected flood situation in Surat Thani province and handed out 2,000 aid packages to flood victims. Gen Prayut also handed out monetary aid to help families who lost family member to the floods as well as financial aid for home repairs. Vital monetary aid packages were also handed to the governors of the 12 southern provinces which will then be handed out to flood victims in the respective provinces.
