Chevron, Honda aid flood victims

By The Nation

Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production recently donated 136,800 bottles of clean drinking water, worth more than Bt500,000, to 10 government agencies in Nakhon Si Thammarat province in order to assist flood victims in the vicinity of Chevron Aviation Base.

The bottled water was distributed with support from the 41st Military Circle, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, which provided vehicles and manpower.

Chevron Thailand said it was aware of the severe flooding in many areas across the Southern region of Thailand and had provided assistance to help flood-relief efforts. Last month, Chevron donated 146,334 bottles of drinking water to aid flood victims in four flood-hit provinces, namely Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla and Chumphon. During the current flood crisis in the South, Chevron has so far supported flood relief worth more than Bt1.5 million.

~ Chevron just reported fourth-quarter earnings of USD415 million, on revenue of USD31.5 billion.

Apple did better than that.  How much water did they donate?

Apple don't operate out of Thailand, they just sell stuff. Chevron do and are the country’s largest oil and gas producer, supplying more than one-third of Thailand's natural gas demand.

They have operations bases in Southern Thailand, they very much have a stake in the area, you might have thought they'd have dug deeper in their pockets!
