Buddhist Retreat For Severely Disabled

Recommended Posts

Sadly my 30 yr old niece has a life threatening genetic disorder which get worse each month, she has lost use of her legs and relies on a wheelchair. She is interested in Buddhism and her parents want to bring her to Thailand to spend time at a Buddhist retreat, but I am concerned Thailand does very little to ease mobility and accessibility for people in wheelchairs. Do any members know of a retreat in Thailand that is wheelchair friendly and has a local hotel that has ramps and rooms fitted with apparatus for disabled.

I would suggest she take a retreat back home, authentic Buddhist meditation retreats can be found in most Western countries and will be far easier ti manage than one in Thailand.

What country is she from?

Does it need to be Thailand?  I have heard Japan is better for people who are disabled.
