Thai ambassador visits Songkhla rubber testing center

SONGKHLA, 07 February 2017 (NNT) - Thai Ambassador to Malaysia Damrong Kraikruan has recently visited the Natural Rubber Product Testing Center of Prince of Songkla University to follow up on the "Rubber City" initiative.

Upon his arrival, ambassador Damrong was briefed on the progress of the initiative and the cooperation between local halal food producers. The Rubber City initiative seeks to turn Thailand into a rubber hub of the ASEAN region.

The ambassador said the government is ready to support the Rubber City campaign by helping researchers overcome their obstacles, in order to push forward the Thai-Malaysian border development strategy.

Located in the Hat Yai campus of Prince of Songkla University in Songkhla province, the Natural Rubber Product Testing Center is equipped with modern facilities and a rubber product testing system that is on par with international standards.

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand last year signed memoranda of understanding with the Prince of Songkhla University, the Rubber Authority of Thailand, and the Export-Import Bank of Thailand to promote investment and rubber development in the rubber city of Songkhla.
