Thais say "chop-ping" as in "cha pai chop-ping", with a sharp o as in go. In fact, I think many won't understand "I am going shopping." said by an American with a sibilant s and rolling o. tgeezer Posted April 18, 2018 Share Posted April 18, 2018 เพลิง is the ภาษาเขมร word for fire, used in some words eg. รถดับเพลิง . Between ไฟ and เพลิง which was the first to be used in Thai? I suppose that when the concept of the four elements ดิน ไฟ นำ้ ลม came to Thailand was the time when ไฟ entered the language.
