PATTAYA: -- Video footage has emerged of an attack on a British man and his companion at a Pattaya beer bar last night.

A woman working at the bar takes a shoe and smashes a 63 year old man in the face before chasing him. She pulls a woman's dress then continues to assault the man with fists and feet, reported Siamchon News.

The attack came after she said the man refused to pay the full bill because he could get the drinks cheaper in a convenience store.

UK tourist David Lodge, 63, reported the attack to Pattaya police at 1.30 am this morning. He had a black eye and a cut to his forehead.

Following this a police patrol was sent to the Patsy Bar Beer in Soi 8 of Pattaya Sai 2.

There they interviewed Rungnapa Pleumjai, 43, a native of Udon who was serving at the counter.

She said that a group of foreigners had come drinking in the bar. But after the bill was added up a man refused to pay all of it because the bar was selling at a price higher than a convenience store.

She said she explained that this was a beer bar so of course it was higher but till the man later known as David Lodge would not pay. She admitted hitting him in the face with a shoe as she was furious.

She was taken to the police station where thereafter the video footage emerged of her hitting the tourist then chasing him and his companion down the soi where the attack continued. She is seen pulling the dress of a woman then further assaulting the UK tourist in a rage.

She was charged with assault causing serious bodily harm. Siamchon News reported the incident saying it had damaged the image of Pattaya.

Jesus weapt, how can any person sane or otherwise be concerned about damaging Pattaya's reputation.. It's a fun city undoubtedly, but is by any standards a complete hole.

Also great to see that mouthy troll hostess get lifted at the end of the clip. The loss of face thing always a giggle :)

While I don't condone violence, she did have good reason to be angry.

If all is as she says then the guy is clearly at fault to a degree.

Not sure he deserved a shoe in the face but he gets no sympathy from me.

i guess he often consumes alcohol in a pub in the UK then refuses to pay because alcohol is cheaper at his local tesco? moron.

the girl's over reaction does her no favours either.

Defiantly more to this story. Who took all the video footage, at the bar, at the police station, back at the bar ? And all the while they know they are being filmed. Since when do police let people not pay a bar bill ?

Try taking a shower?

Would that make the Bs go away from this story. ? :coffee1:

I just can't see 4 people thinking a bar should sell alcohol

cheaper than a 7/11 or the same price. as a 7/11

something is not right with this story.

That would be the Bs.

Would like to know what the bill was for,   and what the bill was.

i suspect,   maybe caught  out  over charging and she lost face,

so went on the war path maybe ?

Or was it 4 very stupid people !!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you understand about "loss of face" . In situations like this the person who gets dragged off by the police are looked up to by their peers....as heros (or a heroine).

he did not deserve the shoe in his face for sure. May be the compensation she owes him now might be a good gain for him

Good to see that Thais assisted him and escorted him to the police - instead of helping the woman as a pack

and -btw- nearly everybody here seems to believe the bar girl? Did you consider she might have lied? Not unusual for bar girls, not?

Supermarket beer in the UK is way cheaper than pub beer. Why should it be different anywhere else? That said, I would like to hear the Brits' versions of the incident.

I guess he was overcharged.

The 7/11 story sounds a bit silly.

This is exactly why I tell people to start filming when you see something bad about to kick off here. Doesn't matter what bogus excuse they come up after the fact to justify the violence, when there is video, the police might actually do something. Especially if you show them that is already been uploaded to youtube. The CCTV camera's from the bars will be mysteriously unavailable by the time the police turn up. This is the only way to protect ourselves here.

I know many say don't get involved here but you can quietly turn up at the police station shortly after words and provide the video or a link to the victims.
