Both Silver Star Agogo’s raided as push for clean-up continues

PATTAYA: -- At around 11:30pm on February 18th, Pattaya police made their way down to Soi 7 and Soi 8 as part of Pattaya’s clean-up and to follow up on several reports that sex shows were being performed in some of the venues.

The first point of call for the police was Silver Star agogo on Soi 8. On entering, police found there to be several dancers on stage with outfits not leaving much to the imagination. They also found 2 girls in a bathtub with nothing on, entertaining the many tourists in the venue. The place was quickly shut down, with customers being asked to pay the bills and leave.

Police then made their way onto Soi 7, where Silver Star has their sister agogo. On entering the sister venue, police found no dancers or girls in the bathtub, however they did find different toys that could potentially be used to entertain guests in a sexual manner.

Police found enough evidence to shut the place down too and put the reason for no dancers down to there being a tip off that they were on the way.

Police took statements from several staff members from the two venues before calling the owner down for questioning. The raids come as the authorities continue their push to clean up Pattaya’s seedy image, which has become world famous.

lets see - we have walking street and LK metro full of gogo bars - they must have missed those, then we have the infamous seedy soi 6

Again, Pattaya not suppose to be a place for church goobers to come and meditate,

and no nuns are crushing grapes in those girly bars, there's no money in a place

that's is pious and demure, and believe me no one's morality is at stake here,

allow those shoes to continue under a guidelines of they allowed and what not,

the world is getting more and more to be open towards nudity, sex and expression

of sexual choices and freedom, and if Thailand will not catch up, other countries will...

Clean up the litter, garbage bags, and rubble along the streets would be more appreciated. A photo-opt in the local news will not change the image of Pattaya being a party-town. Improving the infrastructure and garbage would do more for its image.

The only thing this is going to achieve is damage tourist confidence and put people out of work.

The fact Pattaya has 100's of gogo bars seems to negate their stated aims of cleaning the city up when targeting only a handful at once.

Like it or not. I dare say millions visit Pattaya each year purely based on the fact that it has got such a disgraceful reputation. Its not a nice rep, but its there to stay and it is an amply sized golden goose that only a true idiot would try to kill.

Everyone local knows who the big money makers are in the "GoGo" combined with prostitution business are. They are on and around Walking Street. Yet, with this knowledge, they "raid" the little guys, a brothel on Soi Chaiyapoom and an unknown GoGo? Go after the big money venues if you really want to clean up the city. Walk carefully on your way to and from and God Bless You along the way. It's long overdue.

The biggest blight on Thailands image has to be the inept and corrupt police force - tidy that up first would be a better idea!

How many of the bars and other entertainment businesses in Pattaya have police involved in some kind of ownership capacity, either above or below board?

How many bars and other entertainment establishments pay some kind of monthly "fee" to some part of the BIB to remain in business without being excessively hassled?

That's why any supposed clean-up campaign by the locals there is always going to be a joke, merely for face-saving appearances.

The biggest cleanup needed to improve Thailand's image is within the RTP. Thousands of gogo bars and brothels across the country and they pick 2 or 3 in Pattaya? Yet send 3500 troops to arrest one rogue monk.

Yes! They choose 2 in Pattaya out of the reason that they concentrate on cleaning up the world biggest sex industry. According to me the police here do the right thing. Why continue bashing them?

They will do their thing because there is a new sheriff in town.  In time, it will go back to the way it was it always do. The last thing they think about is how it will affect the tourist. They do things here to satisfy themselves they could care less about the people. It is only for show.

They are raiding the ones that are not "complying" by the terms of their licence. Gogos on Walking Street are often raided if there is information about illegal workers or underage girls. It is really nothing new.
