webfact Posted February 20, 2017 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Canadian tourist dies in tragic snorkelling accident Koh Tao KOH TAO: -- A 50 year old Canadian tourist has died after a tragic snorkelling accident on the island of Koh Tao. The accident occurred on the afternoon of the 16th of February when the lady was snorkelling in a marked boat lane used by longtail boats to access the beach. None of the 8 people on board the boat saw the lady before she was hit by the boat on a choppy sea. After the impact the boat driver stopped and together with the passengers brought her on board and tried to help her. The local Koh Tao rescue teams were called and took her to the medical clinic on the island. She was later transferred to a hospital on Koh Samui where she sadly died later that night.
