Don't most big Western cities have thousands of these establishments? In many countries it's a legitimate business.

This is an article out of the UK Mirror. What's the deal on prostitution in the UK? Are brothel's legal?

Not only western countries, muslim countries like malaysia and indonesia as well.

I don't know why the Thai government cares so much what a stupid little rag in England says about Pattaya. The press is irrelevant in many parts of the world yet they are letting a foreign media outlet dictate their policy. And guess what? Most of the British that come to Pattaya come for the sex and the grog anyways, that will just generate more tourism from that particular country. The Chinese and Russian families (who don't seem to mind the sex trade) won't ever read the newspaper. Thais really can't take any sort of criticism from any outlet.

Do they not realize that "love" makes their world go round? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! At least when you get screwed by those working girl, you leave with a smile on your face, compared to encounters with pompous officialdom  minions

I just wish everyone could get over the idea that there is something wrong with selling sexual services - if there are people with no alternative to pay for sex and workers willing to earn a living then let it happen, whatever country or city.  We all sell our bodies one way or another to survive - if we are labourers we use our muscles if we are accountants our brains - why is sex considered differently to any other human activity?

ha ha ha ...funny stuff all the people who say they will scare away the punters and lose money.

Where are the guys gonna go?

It's the bottom of the barrel,  overall cheapest place for mongering in SEA.

You cant get any lower.

Well actually you can but you end up in Angeles City in the Philippines and you really know you have come to the true bottom of the barrel. :-)

Guess you have never been to Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, West Malaysia or China then.

Cheap sex is available in all the above countries.. Some cheaper and seedier than LOS or the PI.

If you want really seedy try Bangladesh or India.

For some inexplicable reasons, and despite so many international attention on so many matters by the world's media, Thailand only reacts to the piece-of-rag Mirror. Still, all is not lost. Let's look at the positive side. We should start selling/pitching stories to the Mirror with headlines like "Thailand - Road Accident Capital of the World", "Thailand - Tourist Scam Capital of the World", "Thailand - The Most Corrupt Police Force in the World etc. etc. etc. Sit back, and enjoy how the clowns stumble over one another trying to 'clean up'. Who knows, it may actually work and this unlikely scenario may actually be the key to rid Thailand of the corrupt brown clowns, make the roads safer and practice equality amongst tourists.

What happened to a search warrant from the court?  The District office needs to abide by the law

The Military can enter any establishment including your home without a warrant as under article 44...........

You dont classify oil massage parlours as brothels ?

Not illegal ones as they are licensed under the prostitution legislation, so as long as they employ legal aged girls, and not foreigners, they are covered. Most are aimed at Thai customers anyway! Sex clubs like Club 4 are not licensed.

This guy does not know he should never bite the hand that feeds him?

Bad Dog!!!

In the meantime Pattaya has the worst crime rate in Thailand, so we make Happy Zones?

God forbid, Gov't. Authorities, Police, and Legal System work together to implement controls, proactive police work, and penalties that work to prevent crime!

Hundreds? I'd say there are no more than half a dozen places like Club 4 which operate as daytime brothels, unless you count soi 6 which has also been targeted.

Sent from my SM-A500F using Thaivisa Connect mobile app

There may only be about half a dozen places 'like Club 4' in all of Pattaya but the amazing thing is that three of them are right next door to Club 4 and each other in the same row of shophouses. Looks like the District Chief wanted to make a dog and pony show for the foreign media and lacking any real intelligence, decided to raid the same Club 4 that was busted last year... and totally missed the adjacent, trading properties.... that were also trading last year when they busted Club 4 and there was only three such enterprises sharing the same bit of pavement.

Another silly PR stunt which will backfire like the rest. Meanwhile, all over Thailand, brothels for the natives - many running on imported near-slave labour and underage meat - operate with impunity.

Thailand - hub of hypocrisy.

It's sad to see the Thais acting subservient to the pathetic western establishment moral agenda.  I guess they've fallen in love with their smartphones, cheap car loans, and processed food items from 7-11.  This comes from a nation that used to be proud of the fact that they were never colonized.  What a bunch of sell outs!

These jokers are creating more bad PR with these senseless raids. On top of that they are chasing away  those who go there for those services while spending big bucks. They have managed to kill 2 birds with one stone. When the last tourist and expat flees make sure you turn out the lights General.

Or is the answer to the question that when those  tourists  and expats flee at the demise of  an industry that has become so blatant that it has created a  call for these actions that the expectation is  that those that flee will be  replaced  with tourists who  have  previously  stayed  away because of the reputation  Pattaya  has basically   boasted?

International locations  that wish to attract  tourists are  not  generally advertising sexual experiences  as a mainstay of attraction despite the fact there is  almost invariably such background  services.  .

Why surprise that a belated attempt is being  made to tone down the  very blatant aspects  Pattaya is generally reputed  for?

I do acknowledge that there are  many who live in  the general area of  Pattaya who  will  deny and  defend the place as  a great place to  be  with  many other attributes than the  sex trade  which of  course they  never have contact with  etc  etc.  Mnay locations  have  similar.

But the  fact remains  that  Pattaya  has  a reputation that most  Thai are well aware of.
