webfact
Ouch - "Russian" woman passes off fake $100 bill then gets change in baht Picture: Manager Online KRABI: -- A western woman bought some spa products from a shop in Ao Nang, Krabi, on Sunday using a fake $100 US bill. The woman said to busy sales staff that she did not have enough Thai money to buy a 650 baht bottle of herbal perfume. So salesman Sanchai Khaonoi, 25, let her pay in American money, Manager Online reported. Then he gave her the product plus 2,650 baht in change. Only when the shop was less busy and he went to change the money at a currency booth did he realize he had been conned. The note was confirmed as a fake at a bank branch later. Sanchai said he thought the woman - who was slim, 160 cms tall, light brown hair, and wearing an all purple outfit - was speaking with a Russian accent. Shop owner Suthep Biatnork said he had been only open two months and this was the first case of its kind he had encountered. He said he did not expect his staff member to shoulder the loss though he would be giving instructions for all his staff to only accept Thai money in the future. Police said there were no other reports of fake US money circulating. They are studying CCTV to try to get a lead in the case. Get Real
Just hope they catch her. Feeling a little bit of the Thai-justice hospitality for the big catch of 2650 Bath would do her just fine!
ezzra
Not condoling the passing of fake money but tourists cheating Thais is more of an oxymoron and poetic justice of a sort than a real crime....

The potential plot twist serves to make this otherwise tragic escapade at least somewhat amusing. It is much easier to get behind a just ending, after all. On the other hand, there is such a thing as a service charge. Perspective, much like perception, can be everything.

There's one of two possibilities... 1) They didn't know the bill was fake. The purchaser was also a victim and received a fake from someone. 2) They knew because they are counterfeiters.. ?
