BANGKOK: -- A hunt is now on for a man who shot his father in law after claiming that he ran over his pet Golden Retriever.

Sophon Chumsayan, 53, wouldn't let Samrit Inma, 77, explain that it wasn't him who had hurt the dog. As he tried to say that he had taken the dog in to give it first aid Sophon pulled out a .38 and shot him in the chest, Daily News reported.

The victim's daughter Piyanut Duangkunsa, 53, was also hit in the hip as she tried to prevent the attack. She was rushed to hospital by relatives.

The shooter had fled with his wife when police arrived at the house in Klong Luang district of Pathum Thani on Tuesday evening. Samrit was already dead lying in a pool of blood in the driveway of his house.

Three .38 cartridges were found and one .38 bullet.

His son in law lived just five metres away. Pathum Thani police chief Thaworn Khaosa-art said that the argument over the dog was just the final straw in a long running feud between the father in law and his daughter's husband.

Police are now hunting for the shooter and his wife.

It was a busy day for investigators in Pathum Thani - earlier a municipality official was shot dead in her car on the way home from work.

Why would anybody want to kill a golden retriever??? They are fantastic friendly dogs which listen well (if trained).

Guess the old man was too old to drive a car but wouldn't let anybody tell him so.

Also on the roads in BKK the old people are just too old to drive in traffic like that. Very dangerous.

Thailand is fast becoming a country where no foreigners want to go.
Korea has committed 'tourism suicide' as far as the Chinese go, Thailand is doing the same as far as ALL foreigners go.
The 'lawlessness' right now is unbelievable.

Change the last sentence to:-
The ease at which people can report crime with the technology of the smart phone has created a social media news frenzy all over the globe.

Even if the old guy did hurt the dog, there is no need to shoot him. Beat him up proper, maybe (if he did it intentionally), but no need to pump a bullet into his chest. Seriously, the epidemic of Thai girls and their guns are getting out of hand. Can't settle any disputes like a grown and supposedly matured man. Have to bring a gun everywhere and shoot at will. Sheesh...

Makes me think when I am out and about in the tourist areas , who could be carrying a weapon when I am sitting having a beer in a bar or strolling the sois or markets . Guns seem to be readily available and used without any fear of the consequences .
