webfact
Confrontation continues in Satun By Pratch Rujivanarom The Nation SATUN: -- Confrontation between authorities and the protesters continued in the afternoon at Ban Pakbang School in Satun's La-ngu District yet that would be used as venue for the first public hearing Pak Bara Seaport Project. Both sides still insisted to their demands and refused to consider the demand of the other side. Hundreds of police officers led by Satun Provincial Internal Security Operations Command marched into Ban Pakbang School this morning on the operation to negotiate with the protesters and ask them to return the school area, so the public hearing forum can start. However, the operation ended up in tense confrontation and there was minor clash between both sides. As of press time, the officers and the opposition groups held on to their territory on the opposite side of the school and they are still unable to reach the mutual agreement to end the conflict.
