99% of the forum members here came the first time to thailand because of the women, just like me. The Thais are quite right, most foreigners think so about thailand. Sex destination no. 1

Can hardly expect the answers of the hypocrites who have come because of the culture, the good food, the great politics, etc.

See my earlier post, when I first came here I knew nothing of Thailand or Pattaya, I did a whole lot of research before I even got on the plane, and I was also extremely lucky to be staying in a small hotel run by an English guy who took it upon himself to show me and my mate how it's done down Walking Street.

I'll never be able to thank him enough.

That groundwork got me and my mate retired here and living a bloody good life.

Let's face it, for decades, greed plus unenforced laws have helped to contribute to the sex industry within Thailand

So wrong

When I first came here it was a very different place, it had pristine beaches all rubbish free great weather and the ideal place to relax with people who where very friendly, sort of like paradise. All was fine for a few years on visits, but then I stated to meet the bad ones when I visited a temple north of Cha Am on a big hill. Here the thieves started to show themselves. At first it was the Monkeys steeling handbags and whatever they could lay their thieving hands hands on.

Over the years many more thieves appeared but these where the talking kind ie BullS>>>ERS, then I noticed the beaches where not so clean and rubbish was starting to appear everywhere, but still no sex being flung in my face. But then that started to happen as you walked along the street at night not sure if it was  ladyboys or women started grabbing you even if you where walking with the wife beside you.

I tried pat once but that was even worse than my favourite Hau Hin. Over the years its just got worse unsafe as the BIB do not do there job and racial. Now I will never return and try to remember the place for what it was and not what it is now.

I did get one thing out of the place a loyal wife who has proved herself, again the country's loss as she was top (medical Job).

I really loved the country but no more, had enough of the lies, deceit, stupidity and racial abuse.

As for the bonk bars never been inside one, it was always quality with me not pin cushions?

In the good old days fantastic but then it was a civil gov, now why bother

I know of about 15 of my friends and family members who have visited Thailand and dozens of people who I've talked with about Thailand and NONE of them have any interest whatsoever in the sex trade and nor do I. There have been maybe 3 or 4 out of these many people I've talked with over the years who asked me if the stories they read about human trafficking and children in the sex trade were true, but it was not from interest of joining in, but to know if it is really true or not. Of course there is a section of depraved individuals that seek nothing more, but I don't think it is the majority. I think that is a ridiculous stereotype that would not be borne out by the facts if somebody ever bothered doing a real poll and real statistics instead of this kind of nonsense. I can't even imagine how sheltered a life people must live to believe that any kind of a majority of foreigners come here for the sex industry! It is truly laughable. They really ought to get out of the bars sometime and check out the rest of the world!

Rigged poll. Obviously it is the shopping and the temples.

minnie the minx what shopping stands out that is typical to thailand and not available elsewhere. it is the entertainment factor that is the prime reason for the visitors to thailand.

Why ask people in Bangkok? Most of them are probably involved in the sex trade. Also, how many of them have asked a falang why they are here?

I agree with Samsensam.

There may be the occasional sex tourist but before we go putting the blame on foreigner hormones shouldn't we Thai's asks ourselves:  Did anyone point a gun to those girl's heads to choose this profession or was it the hardship and economic disparity especially in the Isaan area that is to blame?

Thailand is 2nd ranked in terms of adultery (after Nigeria of course) and those big wigs and high ranking government officials with their "Mia Noi's" aren't exactly setting a good example of morality so we need to look at our own culture and socioeconomic shortcomings before we go wagging our fingers.

I suspect the people interviewed are only thinking of Patpong and Pattaya and forgot that its rampant all over the place and most of the demand is local.

This is true, except the one thing people seem to forget is that Thailand's sex industry is somewhat unique to those that you have mentioned above.

For all of your examples above, prostitutes go short time and offer sex. In Thailand, prostitutes offer both sex and paid companionship, sometimes resembling a girlfriend experience.

For the lonely or socially awkward types, that is often the real attraction. One could make the arguement that it is affection and a temporary cure for loneliness that that attracts the single male tourist, and not necessarily the sex.

if it was solely about getting laid, why fly halfway around the world at great expense for it?

In answer to your last "probably  rhetorical" question.... it's because the "little head" does the thinking for the " big head" .

Only for 60 years!

No surprise.

The business cash flow accelerated the development of the country by customers moving here long term, buying visas, investing, and spending money for many decades.

The money earned fed, provided health care, and real estate development for many millions of citizens.

Just shedding light on a dark topic.

Then I must be one of the 1%,because I came here mainly to learn about Buddhism.

OK I agree that it didn't work out as I thought, but having a lot of experience in Nepal, India and Sri Lanka before,Thailand was not a big shock, although some of the events lately reinforced my bad opinion about institutionalized Buddhism.

Many foreigners who do NOT live in Thailand probably do relate the county as a culture of easy sex but not all.

The Thai sex industry is primarily driven by the Thais to service the Thais.

Foreigners who have lived in Thailand for a very few years or more see the country as a culture based on CORRUPTION, DISHONESTY and DECEIT.

Denial. Really funny. I have a business here for 10 years, on Koh Samui, and used to know quite a few bar owners which provided female 'escorts'. Most of them are gone now. Fact is they can hardly make any money nowadays, because what sells is everything else but.
Keep on living in the sex cloud, I don't really care.

I live in a house and I am in love with a woman!
If your struggling to find love you can call on me the doctor, the doctor of love, Hutch68 that's me.
Yea man!
Don't forget me when I'm gone woa oh oh oh.

Can you support that with the evidence please?

Seriously, are you suggesting that the number of sex tourists arriving is greater than the number of normal holiday makers who don't go pissing it up and whoring?

If so, please provide the research that shows that.

Add that question to the back of the Arrival / Departure cards along with the other info gathering questions .

 Purpose of trip:

?  Holiday

?  Business

?  Visit relatives

?  Just to get laid

Thank you but I'm happy with my Thai partner for 12 years now.

Edited to add: I'm sure you'll be gone soon anyway.

What about the other 47?. blind  and deaf maybe.

Anyone who is unaware of prostitution here, is lacking something or are in denial.

They simply just do not care. What would you do as an answer for your own country that you acually love very much?

Thats funny Sex I though takes 2 people, so does that not mean Thais must think the same

I live 30 mins outside udon and just 5 mins from me is a Karaoke shop that is a front for young Loa girls way below legal age some time not of their own free will provide sex to Thai men

and in business why so many short time shops where thai men hide their cars behind massive curtains

An while we are on the subject what about buffalo bridge Pattaya same same for Thai men

Yes Thailand is about sex, but way before US Vets came on R&R

When i think of thailand i think of corruption, no manners, criminals, delusional, ignorant, cowardly, dirty and smelly. Well, thats my thoughts now. I have never been to a bar for more than a minute with an ex that dragged me in. Ive neve been interested. Originally i cne to meet a girl i met by accident online whilst searching for a work colleague. Sex was never a first. Pretty sad that thais think this but then again they would be unhappy to hear what i think now after being here so long.

Just today i found out from the mayor that all my neighbours all people i dont know want us to move. Theres no reason apart from racism. We arr quiet and keep to ourselves. The mayor offered to buy our land back. Crazy right? Only in Thailand could such behavior exist.
