webfact
Power of the internet brings family together again after 15 years Picture: Facebook PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: -- A family is set to be reunited today with a man who ran away from home 15 years ago. The story that is touching the hearts of the Thai people shows the power of the internet to reach out to people we might have lost. "Am" ran away from home when he was about seven or eight years old. He could not remember his full name or surname and grew up in Prachuap Khiri Khan. He knew his dad was called Buntham and his mum was called Maew. He also knew he had a brother called Khiat and a sister by the name of Kob. But he couldn't remember where he lived - just that it was by some railway tracks and near a klong or perhaps a river.. In April he contacted a foundation called Krajok Ngao who, using Facebook, managed to get a lead after someone in Bangkok said they thought they knew the man's family. It turns out that they live in the Talat Sri Khema community near the railway tracks on Rama VI road. Today Am is travelling from Prachuap for what promises to be an emotional reunion with his family in Bangkok. Khon Kaen Dave
Now, this is a feel good story. It warms the cockles of my usually cynical, distrusting, suspicious mind.
