End for Kodi users in sight

Kodi always had a limited lifespan with "illegal" content, eventually it will be blocked its just when. Stopping the retailers of fully loaded boxes just means people will need to understand how to do it themselves. Other apps are far easier to install

Then everyone will move to SPMC or whatever other fork someone comes up with.

They have as much chance of blocking it as they do of nailing jelly to a wall.

The only solution that will work is if content providers stop being greedy and start selling their products online at a reasonable price. It worked for Netflix.

Is it any wonder that, for example, people are paying 80 quid a year for pirate everything when Sky are charging 80 quid a month?

Never heard of them stopping retailers of fully loaded boxes? I just bought, a month ago, a loaded Minix with Kodi on it. Bought it on Amazon. Kodi has been around well over 10 years so I also don't get the limited lifespan thing. Sorry scubascuba3 but I think you don't what your saying. Streaming is getting more and more popular, not less.

A couple of examples for you

Just like when Napster was shut down and ever since you can't download music online......

Perfect timing for this really, end of the season gives people a couple of months to find a work around. Probably won't take that long.

Kodi is way more sophisticated than something like Napster. It's a development platform .  If you get one of these pre-loaded boxes, it's quite amazing. Impossible to find a website that will duplicate it.

Probably...

Ha ha, it's been a while since I saw that.
I was referring to an earlier poster mentioning books being banned, but life imitates art I'm told.

If they end up taxing the air that we breathe then just don't pay your taxes so you get cut off, and they won't be able to burn the books..  See? That's for thinking and these are for dancin'.

End of Kodi? Why? Is it also the end of 'Plex'?

I became aware of Kodi as a management system of my hdd movies.

The thread topic is a bit misleading, but does say: "End for Kodi users in sight"

Many people don't understand how any of this actually works   ...and seems to go double for the content producers who can't plug the holes or attach identification markers to identify the leak origination.

But it's just the box sellers and the 3rd-party add-on repositories that are currently under pressure.

The content itself is still being leaked and redistributed for the most part.

Your joking ? The demise of Napster just spurred on other files sharing applications like edonky /bit torrent, pre Napster USENET is still going too.
The internet is all about sharing information, digital 0 and 1s
It was designed to be resilient against anything stopping the flow of information. The only certain way to stop the flow is to not be connected to the real internet but have a fake/pseudo web maybe like North Korea.
Even China's great firewall cant stop everything as it is eventually connected to the real internet.

Its the end of neither just because Microsoft has come up with an algorithm that spots people sharing
certain things that are uploaded to certain filesharing sites like Google drive
doesn't mean Kodi stops working.

The sharers just have to do a little "rearrangement" and the cat and mouse game continues.

I tried Kodi just now (Exodus) and I tried to watch 2 different movies but got a message: No steam arrivalble .

One of the movies I have actually downloaded elsewhere so I guess I will have to do that from now on, hmm.

My VPN is currently set in California.

Below is an alternative site for free on-line movies which I used with some success but the selection is limited.

I have read reports today that there were issues with Exodus in North America yesterday, so the vpn might indeed be the issue.

That's odd, I just changed my VPN to UK and now I can get Split up but none in 1080 or even HD so only a crappy non HD version.

Baby driver is still not arrivalbe.

It's maybe the VPN throttling me down, I try once again without VPN.

Baby driver will only get released in a months time, so obvious you don't get sources yet.

As I said in my previous post, you will neewd Kodi 17.1 or higher to get full HD souces.

A vpn throttles you down, and exodus detects your internet speed to provide the resolution of the sources.

You don't need a vpn for Exodus

I have the newest Kodi 17.3

Win10 (off-course), why should I want Win7?

Yes the VPN is the reason I couldn't get 1080, split can now be seen from several sources in 1080.

Oh so Baby Driver is not yet released, ha-ha. Why is it there then, I wonder?

Thanks guys.
