Petchabun increases road checkpoints during New Year Holidays

Petchabun Province has increased the number of checkpoints and has endowed local officials with greater operational duties in order to prevent traffic accidents during the New Year Holidays.

The governor of Petchabun Province, Mr. Thowpong Ampan (ต่อพงษ์ อ่ำพันธ), said that the province was laying down measures to prevent accidents during the 7 high risk days of the New Year Holidays. The governor said his province would continue to implement last year's traffic regualtion measures which have proven to be effective, but will be tougher in enforcing traffic laws. Mr. Thowpong said that checkpoints will also be increased from 34 to 38 as budgetary constraints allowed, while local village roads would be monitored by the Local Administration Organization.

The governor of Petchabun added that the province has set maximum fatalities at 7 and injuries at 73, and requests the cooperation of local residents in driving safely.
