Police ‘trying to locate Red Bull heir’ before forwarding extradition documents

POLICE are trying to locate Red Bull heir Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, who is being sought to hear the indictment by public prosecutors in relation to crashing his car into a police officer and killing him in 2012, national police deputy spokesman Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen said on Friday.

Head of the Attorney General’s Foreign Affairs Office Amnat Chotechai said on Thursday that they could not start the process to extradite Vorayuth because police have yet to forward the necessary documents.

Krissana said the Royal Thai Police’s Foreign Affairs Division was still working on the request to be submitted to the Office of the Attorney General.

Senior Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert was riding a motorbike on Sukhumvit Road when killed in the notorious hit-and-run accident in Bangkok.

The case has become highly controversial in the five years since because Vorayuth has repeatedly refused to meet with the authorities, claiming unfair treatment and that he was “preoccupied overseas”.

On April 27 he failed to show up to hear the public prosecutors’ indictment, causing an arrest warrant to be issued for him the next day. It was then found that he had left the country on a private jet bound for Singapore on April 25.

Police said they would seek an Interpol blue notice to extradite Vorayuth and asked the Foreign Affairs Ministry to revoke his Thai passport.

Delaying tactics by Vorayuth’s lawyers have helped him escape being charged with speeding and reckless driving causing property damage, because the statute of limitations on the two charges expired.

But he remains accused of reckless driving resulting in death, which has a 15-year statute of limitations, and refusing to stop to assist a victim, the statute for which ends in September. The first offence carries a jail term up of 10 years and the latter up to six months in jail.

I seem to recall seeing on the BBC website today that he is in London. Does that narrow it down enough to get started fellas?

Or are you worried that the nasty UK press might say some critical things about you?

They couldnt find him if he was in their own police station. Outside La La Land, no interest and no chance!

At that time they didn't even know where he was.  They were looking for him so they could track him or figure out how to get him back.  How they planned on doing that is completely different issue. The point is they were told where was was long ago.  If the courts are to lazy to do anything so are the cops.  Now it's suddenly a big deal.  So go look in the family resort, they were given the name. I doubt they will.

The point is it wasn't a matter for the authorities in Tahiti at that particular time.

It was the Thai Police that was informed not Tahiti.  Tahiti isn't going to do crap.

What did you expect them to do when he was in Tahiti? they need to file a red notice. After that when he is arrested they can request extradition.

I was sat in the London pie shop in Ekamai 3 year ago and he drove past in a nice shiny red Ferrari on his way home I would imagine.

I do wish they would stop the pretence they are looking for him and just forget it. It really is just making themselves look silly.

What do you think would happen if he got taken in somewhere in the world by a countries police force and the Thai authorities where told he would be held until they came to pick him up.

There would be secret meetings going on to make sure he was let go with no fuss and definitely no publicity.

They couldn't find him if he was standing next to them or maybe they just don't want to.  They had the cheek to threaten arresting people because they mock and laugh at them because it tarnishes their reputation.

They clearly don't want to do anything to bring him to justice. Even Thai newspapers are saying he is in London as of yesterday. Besides, the idea is to issue the warrant to Interpol and they will pick him up wherever he maybe found. All this, we need to check on this and that is pure unadulterated bullcrap.

That photo is old at least 6 weeks, but if he is here you bet he will get lifted if those in a certain place provide the docs

Not a chance of docs arriving that is for sure
