Time to start closing down radical Mosques and Islamic Schools in the UK, these places are breeding grounds for jihadists. Trying to monitor thousands of them later on is too late, they are already plotting to kill by then, We need action, not the usual we are not afraid, we stand united, our thoughts are with the families response from politicians.

Police rush to three attacks in central London, at least one dead

LONDON (Reuters) - British armed police rushed to three incidents in central London on Saturday after a van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge and reports of multiple stabbings in the nearby Borough Market area.

Police sent out security advice to Londoners on Twitter saying "run, hide, tell" if they were caught in an attack. The BBC cited police as saying there had been more than one fatality.

The attacks come days ahead of a June 8 election and less than two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 22 people at a pop concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande in Manchester in northern England. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

"A van came from London Bridge itself, went between the traffic light system and rammed it towards the steps," a taxi driver told the BBC. "It knocked loads of people down.

"Then three men got out with long blades, 12 inches long and went randomly along Borough High Street stabbing people at random."

Prime Minister Theresa May had been informed and was being kept updated, her office said, while U.S. President Donald Trump had also been briefed by his national security team, the White House said.

One woman told Reuters she saw what appeared to be three people with knife wounds and possibly their throats cut at London Bridge at the Thames river. Reuters was unable to immediately verify her account.

STABBINGS ON THE STREET

Police said they fired shots after reports of stabbings in the nearby Borough Market area, and that they were also responding to an incident in the Vauxhall area further west, but gave no immediate details.

Streets in the area would have been busy with people on a Saturday night out. BBC showed dozens of people, evidently having been caught up in the attack, being escorted through a police cordon with their hands on their heads.

British Transport Police said casualties were reported after an incident that may have involved a van and a knife attack, while the London Ambulance Service said it was sending multiple resources to the incident near London Bridge.

One witness told the BBC she saw a speeding white van veering into pedestrians at London Bridge. That witness said the van hit five to six people. Reuters television pictures showed dozens of emergency vehicles in the area around London Bridge.

Several witnesses also reported hearing gunshots.

"We were in an Uber (taxi) going towards London Bridge and suddenly we saw people running. The Uber stopped, we asked people what was going on – people said there was shooting," said Yoann Belmere, 40, a French banker living in London.

"Now the area is completely closed with police cars going one way and ambulances going the other," he told Reuters.

The incident bore similarities to a March attack on Westminster Bridge, west of London Bridge, in which a man killed five people after driving into a crowd of pedestrians before stabbing a police officer in the grounds of parliament.

A witness told CNN two men had entered a restaurant in the Borough Market area near London Bridge and stabbed two people inside. He said a waitress was stabbed in the throat and a man was stabbed in the back.

The Manchester bombing on May 22 was the deadliest attack in Britain since July 2005, when four British Muslim suicide bombers killed 52 people in coordinated attacks on London's transport network.

According to the tv news, the patrons in the pub started throwing bottles and chairs at the knifeman. Didn't say what the outcome was.

According to a witness in restaurant. The terrorist left and continued on their way l

We don't know how many fatalities there are yet because its still an ongoing incident.

It's time for internment. The security services know who the vast majority of radicalised are. God forbid Corbyn gets the reins: he's a rabbit in the headlights at best on stuff like this. Has May got the bottle to deal with this properly?

They would just go underground instead. Damage done and too late now. Any effective measures would probably be politically unacceptable. Even during the IRA campaign they didn't deport every Irish person living in the UK. Internment as per Japanese on Hawaii would be a non starter. What else is there?

May? Doubt it. She was home secretary, but didn't bring in any particularly effective measures then.

Travel ban where?  US, Australia & UK because one is likely to be killed by terrorists?

travel ban for muslims entering these countries ....

the less allowed in the less chance they can do attacks.

Hmmmmm. That's what Trump proposed and he was thwarted by the judges. I wonder if they are having second thoughts now?

Trump has sent his travel ban to the SCOTUS. Perhaps incidents like this will help them decide.

He's using a broad brush. Perhaps just those from 6 countries that we know are hotbeds of terrorism.

That's more workable, although I'd be happy if they just identified and arrested the terrorists and their sympathisers.

All Muslims?  How would that work?!

Probably most ....  but do more serious background checks on those who you may allow in such as the little old grandmother or the study student or similar.

Set up a task force who's job is to just scrutinize muslims entering ...

not sure but something has to be done ....  and this would be my suggestion ..

costly yes ....  but thats the way it has to be ...

Not all Muslims would be easy to identify at points of entry.  However, I do agree that it's intelligence about who is sympathising with or, worse, organising these attacks and then effective action by the authorities to stop and arrest them, where the solution lies.  And most of the intelligence will need to come from Muslims.

Picture on BBC showed one of them shot by police. On the ground. Armed policeman stood over him. The terrorist was said to be alive at the time. He's got cannisters strapped to him. I doubt it's beer.

Jails would be full, and the liberals would cry about their human rights, but it's not a bad start

That was tried with the IRA terrorists and ended up being very counter-productive.  I doubt they'll make the same mistake again.

Cheaper just to ban any from one of 6 countries.

The reporter on BBC says that the police are currently monitoring more than 3000 potential terrorists in the UK.

There is no way they are actually "monitoring" 3,000 people. They might have a computer recording anything they say on the internet or phone, but physically, not a hope. It takes many people to monitor one person properly, and to monitor 3,000 would take thousands and thousands of police. Unaffordable.

Horrific pure evil terrorist attack. I hope they find and punish the perps.

The usual knee jerk redneck Islamophobic nonsense from the  bigoted brigade on this forum, who are spouting exactly the stereotypical hatred that the terrorists want you to.

With a liberal dose of hypocrisy thrown in too, when western governments had a big hand in creating the conditions for the organisations behind these monsters to become established. Think of our interference, needless wars, murder, and pillaging in their countries for the last 100 years usually for the sake of the almighty $ and oil.  And have you noticed ... we are still there...selling them $billions worth of arms (just last week) to prop up corrupt regimes and to fuel religious wars.

No excuse for these individual terrorist cowardly acts. But maybe helpful in understanding how to end rather than perpetuate them.

They can't go underground. The security services know who they are. If they leave the country, great, revoke their passports. If they stay in the UK, hunt them down and intern them. And intern any friends and family who help them. Then start with deportations after a quick change in the law (telling the EU to do one will help with this). The vast majority have dual citizenship, so not a problem.

It's time to get surgical with this problem.
