monsieurhappy
My friend, with my help applied for a visit visa to UK for his GF. Everything seemed to go through OK, payment etc. and on the 7th. of this month she went for her interview. She was told to expect a reply within 10 days and was also given a number to use with Thai post to check whereabouts of reply letter. This is the 4th. year they have applied for a visa, having had no problems before and the visa and passport arriving on time. Obviously the visa has not yet arrived and my friend is getting worried because of the flight time getting closer. He has already changed his flight once! We tried to access Thai post with the tracking number given but no luck as Thai post just came up with "PENDING" What we would like to know is if there maybe a delay or backlog or something that is delaying the delivery of this pp/visa? Looking at the receipt my friend has it seems he paid for a SMS also to be sent along with the cost of postage. Again no SMS has been received! We would be grateful for any thoughts concerning this. Thanks in anticipation.
oceanyachting
I'd like to follow this thread. I'm British living on retirement extension in Thailand and want to visit UK with BF this summer. He's been refused once but we have heard '3rd time lucky'. Any truth to this?
theoldgit
Your friends girlfriend wouldn't have gone for an interview, she would have gone to VFS to hand in her application, her supporting documents and to have her biometric details captured, there's no interview. If the ECO wants to ask the applicant some questions about their application they'll telephone then. If she handed her papers in on the 7th, which is a Wednesday, they probably would be dispatched to the Embassy on the Thursday and as Friday is a half day they wouldn't have joined the pile until the Monday, 10 working days ago. The latest figures from the UKVI indicate that most applications are processed within ten working days, so she should hear any day. The UKVI normally send an email to the applicant advising that the decision has been made, the SMS service from VFS is notoriously unreliable. No truth whatsoever, each application is decided on its merits. if your BF meets the criteria and can satisfy the ECO of such, then a visa will be issued, he needs to address the reasons for the refusal as well as satisfying the decision maker that the proposed visit is genuine and affordable, and that on the balance of probabilities he will leave the UK at the conclusion of his is visit. If you, or he, wants to ask questions about his application, please start your own thread.

I had hoped that was the case and we feel better prepared than the previous application
monsieurhappy
Thankyou t o g for your reply. You are correct when you say it's not an interview but just handing in the paperwork, it's been many years since I had the worry of doing the same. As I said, it's the 4th. time my friend's GF as gone through this procedure but this time it' seems to be taking longer than before. I am sure you are right that they'll hear within the next few days but they cannot help being worried that the visa is being held up somewhere or that it may be stuck somewhere in the Thai post! Appreciate your reply, thanks.
rasg
It's not advised that you buy airline tickets until a visa is issued.
