Link?

We are not allowed to link Bangkokpost.com articles here.  I would have posted it together with the comment/reply I made.

But I went to check for the article again, but it looks like it has been withdrawn and a new article about it
already appeared. Now the BKK DSI is getting involved and some statements are corrected as the official did give different
accounts of the discovery. (that is what it reads now in the bkkpost article.)

Now they deny she was partly eaten by animals and that wasn't covered in T-shirts. Now the statement goes she was found with
a rope around her neck and the rope was attached to the tree. So she would have tried to suffocate herself.

That would in part explain why they first said she did not hang herself.

So when there was a fire in the resort where she was staying, she ran to the other side of death island and hung herself from a tree? BS!!

And the resort owner did not want to press charges, even though he was substantially out of pocket. ????

Yes, the Bangkok article doesn't exist, if they have withdrawn the information it means they can't back it up with proof as the BP doesn't usually hold back on the facts.

The rumour about being partly eaten by animals and covered in T-shirts was started by the Samuitimes who has a conflict of interest and would be happy to see khao tao losing tourists, again they provided no source for this nonsense.  This is the same article who claimed young woman hardly ever hang themselves and quoted some German dude to back up their ridiculous claim.

Press charges against who?

I don't know, there must have been someone at fault.

He obviously was asked if he wanted to press charges and declined.

That's what the article said.

"The owner decided not to press charges"

There could be any number of reasons why the owner didn't want the police poking around his tourist business, especially if his bungalows are tinder boxes.

It's just sad another young life is lost.  Its an understatement to say I don't trust the police very much.  I have more trust in non-police affiliated forensics doctors like Dr. Pornthip.  Yeah she made a mistake with the GT 2000 handheld bomb search thingy but that scammed everyone on a national level.

A lot of young lives have been lost recently in Koh Tao and if the local BIB think they can sweep everything under the rug then we as Thai's need to start demanding answers and accountability from everyone responsible for the safety and security of people on that island as well as the whole country.   Maybe the PM needs to start using section 44 and have some heads rolling to get things going.

It seems those in power may only react when the fire is burnin near their butts as the Thai saying goes....

"Chalermsak Saithanu, one of the rescue volunteers from the Sattha Koh Tao Foundation, recalled the scene where the tourist was found on April 27, saying her body was tied to a nylon rope from a tree between... "

- So the fire started in her bungalow.

- They found a bottle of whiskey, bottle of gasoline, her purse, a written letter

Did she start the fire? Did she drink too much before she died?

This actually might be just another suicide.

We need some facts here , any CCTV footage available?

I have now read 4 different news articles that doesn't add up.    Can anyone interview her mother ? Because according to Thai police the mother had said her daughter tried to kill herself earlier , it was a failed attempt. Then in another article we can read the mother said her daughter is not suicidal and would never do such a thing.

So we need clear facts , lets start with the mother , maybe someone in Belgium can interview her?

So as this is the Internet why not some wild speculation. Here goes ... girls bunglalow is set fire too in an attempt to kill her / destroy something - girl survives and flees on foot to the other end of the island buys ticket to leave island and checks in to a new hotel - killer either follows her or has access to hotel reporting of who is staying their (daily requirement) - ie is a person of influence .. killer finds her at new hotel abducts and kills her - initiates usual police cover up measures as per his other killings .. more or less likely than "official" story

Also explains the registering using a different name,,

It's possible a local with $$,, tossed some the owners way,, to cover the damage,, No charges pressed,,, therefore, no further investigation of that scene was needed... in the eyes of the local BIB anyway,, although wether charges were pressed by the owner or not,, it was STILL part of a missing/murdered person investigation,,,,

There's NO hope of the PM waving his hand, and demanding accurate investigations,, From day ONE, the former head policeman on the island stated in so many words, they HAD a suspect in mind as to who was responsible for the 2 beach murders,, within 2 days, he was sacked, and a new Head policemen was in place, who would, "tow the party line",, and had the 2 Burmese boys in custody,,,, So ANY hope of someone higher up demanding accurate police work be done,, is zero,,,

I am from Belgium, but am not going to ask her what she has said. But there is no mention of suicide attempts in our papers, but it doesn't have all the facts either.

I think you're overestimating the power of any leader here in LOS (or underestimating the power of money).  Do you believe that any guy in charge in Thailand (ever) isn't surrounded by employees who are also in the employ of special interests who report everything that happens, and may be called upon to take him out if their interests are put at risk?

The corruption has been decades (centuries?) in the making.  It's not going to be solved by one peaceful coup.

Especially so when those in charge wish to maintain the status quo at any cost.

It should be OK but make sure it's the last place on the list that you visit!

Time for some top international investigative journalism on this island.

And like Drummond , Hall and Head be dragged through the courts on defamation charges until eventually they are hounded out of the country ?

yes she got a long rope (I would have trouble finding that in pattaya never mind an Island and I am not that slow and have been living here 14 years) then she was able to climb said tree and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,seriously, sorry that is just complete bull................this girl on an Island was able to source a rope were she could hang herself from a tree ................................. that is complete nonsense

I challenge any of you commenting here - go to Koh Tao and see how long it takes you to find a rope either by shopping for it or finding it just laying around so you can go hang yourself from a tree  .......................sorry seriously ......seriously!!!!!!!!!

my experience as an ex bus driver tells me this girl was murdered, and I really do know what I am talking about

IMO The young Russian girl was also murdered

IMO Hannah was also murdered and David tried to save her and was also murdered - the two young lads that got stiched up had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Never mind the bogus DNA evidence used ........................................ the case was all about Hannah, when you look at Published Photo's of David they clearly show puncture wounds on his body around his arms and neck area that were consistent with being bitten by a shark with only one tooth...........................there was never anything disclosed about how these injuries occurred, in fact apart from the early photo's published by the original investigation team (who where removed) ......................nobody would ever have seen them

My message to the Prime Minister of Thailand..............you want to find who is actually raping and murdering innocent young people on the Island of Koh Tao and tarnishing the reputation of Thailand, just pull up a few photos of people that are wearing rings with a Shark tooth and who think they are brave when in fact they are just sick cowards ...................... you will find your answer and maybe recover some reputation

There is evil there - people that think the next ferry load of innocent young girls are just for them for the taking and any one gets in their way will also be dealt with, you want a criminal profile ................ that is it
