Thai news media reported that a foreign tourist out sunbathing on popular Lamai beach in Samui found the corpse of a woman buried in the sand.

And it looks like murder.

The tourist noticed a bad smell coming from the sand and on further inspection saw some clothing sticking out.

A little dig revealed the grisly secret  - the body of a woman as yet unidentified.

Police said it had been there for about three days and was bloated and decomposing. They could not say yet whether it was a foreigner or a Thai woman.

Results of an autopsy are as yet unavailable after the find yesterday, reported Daily News.

But police are saying that it looks like a murder enquiry.

Keep digging, there is a lot more!

I wonder how many they'd find with a trained corpse sniffing dog?

I feel for the family that's going to be getting some tragic news.

Nope, even corpses in the sand won't stop the redoubtable sheep-like tourists from coming. Maybe dead hands coming out of the water [end of Deliverance] or dead arms shooting out of the ground [end of Carrie] might work.

In the other case on Koh Tao, when the resort room where she was staying in caught fire, the Belgian girl quickly grabbed her most important possession (a rope) and ran across to the other end of death island and hanged herself to death. In this bizzare case, the lady may have decided to commit suicide by burying hersel on the beach sand. Why kick up a big fuss?

In reality Elise took her bag, phone and money with her.

I am starting to think a serial killer / killers are on the loose on these islands could and wouldn't rule out it being a cop or cop connections  , going back koh tao  sep 2014 how can anyone rule this out remember the photo when Hannah and David were killed and the 2 men that threatened Sean  M'canna "You're going to hang yourself tonight and we are going to watch you hang. You will die tonight.'". wasn't one a cop ?

Your quoted post fails to make your point in any way whatsoever.  I'll leave you to it.

Yes it is horrific to find a corpse at the beach but how many murdered people are found back home in similar grisly circumstances. Just because people come here for a holiday does not mean reality of today's life stays behind.

It is rather unnecessary to start another KT discussion about dead people found elsewhere. Have to wonder what the agenda of all the KT rumour mongers is and how many uninformed/idiotic comments come up in unrelated posts.

That suggests that you do in fact have a vested interest.

That's right -- the only persons without a vested interested  in Koh Tao are persons who have never been there and have no first-hand knowledge of the environs but have lived in Thailand and sure as heck know who's who and what's what.

But if you've been there and say "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" then all your instincts about the place are on target.

Not sure if the victim was a tourist or local? The high threat of injury or death to women in Thailand is not lost on travel company Amadeus which classifies LOS as a medium risk country.  The situation for crime, law and corruption is summarized quite accurately here.  Having lived here almost three decades I was dismayed to read how this country is now portrayed to foreign travelers.  These days the risk might just outweigh the joy of traveling in Thailand.

Shocking News !

Cannot read any more of these posts .....the compassion expressed for the deceased and their loved ones is just too overwhelming to handle.

RIP dear person......one good thing about your death is that thankfully you will never get to see certain comments.

Condolences to family friends and loved ones.
