phuketsub Posted July 6, 2017 Share Posted July 6, 2017 I have been getting annoyed with the lack of real-time weather data now that the radar in Sathingphra has been down for a month. The Krabi one has also been down since the end of last month. This leaves "old reliable", the Narathiwat radar, but we just on the edge of its range, so without backup from Krabi, we are vulnerable to sucker punches from systems moving in from the West. It's really the time of the year when the farmers among us rely on the radar the most for planning purposes. Anyway, I called Meteorological Department Office in Songkhla and the official said they were waiting for parts and it would likely take "about two weeks". Stocky Posted July 6, 2017 Share Posted July 6, 2017 I quite like the WindyTV website, it's not bad at giving you an idea as to where the weathers coming from over the next few day, menu bar on the right lets you toggle between wind, clouds, temperature, rain and waves. https://www.windytv.com I also get the daily Meteogram update emailed from Meteoblue each morning. But in the absence of the radar data they do give recent and predictive data, which is helpful. However, the best information for flood preparation In Hat Yai is the city's own environmental website, which gives warnings and has live feeds from webcams set at points along the various waterways with views of the level gauges. http://www.hatyaicityclimate.org/ . phuketsub Posted September 5, 2017 Author Share Posted September 5, 2017 Some signs of life with the Songkhla (Satingphra) radar...they put out an image at 5:30 this afternoon...probably a test as it hasn't been updated and the loop function still doesn't work...still, a step forward.
