CHONBURI/PATTAYA: -- The firm that intends to build a 4 billion baht motor racing track in Chonburi has said that the death of a top executive will not affect the project.

Forty six year old Prithat Phoonphon was found dead in bed on the 35th floor of Jamjuree Square. He had shot himself in the temple.

Prithat was acting as project manager and had a keen interest in motor racing.

But a representative of Grand Eastern Co Ltd who are building the facility said that his suicide will not affect operations that are going ahead as planned.

Manager reported that the plans for the park were already two months behind schedule.

The company said that building would probably start either in August or September. The project to build a 2.5 kilometer track is expected to take two years.

what a waste, if you are going to go to the trouble of building a race track why not do it right, 2.5km is all but useless, build it to international standards so that there is a possibility to host international events or just don't bother, yet another ill thought out plan without vision

Not only a waste........why having 2 similar racetracks within a 40 km range?

Suicide? I'm thinking more of Birra being involved.

Wasnt Bira sold a few years ago to a developer ?

Any news on this new race track ?
