‘Luang Pu Nenkham’ agrees to disrobe, but refuses to chant monkhood-leaving prayer"

In any other society his agreement is not required and refusing to chant anything is a blessing to all those honest, dedicated monks. Pathetic!

Interesting conversation with my wife whilst watching this guy on telly news this morning.

Me ... "How come Thailand can get this guy back so easy, but "Boss" still hide somewhere and Thailand cannot get back ? He kill policeman."

Wife ... "This monk not good. He owe money much to Govt, and not do good Buddah. He go Bang Kwan. Boss no problem for Thai. He pay money to family policeman, and now he finished."

Phwrrrr .... I was pretty gobsmacked by my wife's comments, but that's how she sees the situation. I truly wonder if that's the mindset of Thai's in general ?

I chose not to debate the issue with my wife, as I'm really no closer to understanding some aspects of Thai logic, than when I first arrived here 5 years ago.

for a guy that had millions he really did not plan his escape very well.

he should have bank accounts, stacks of cash, gold, passports in other names, and a list of countries he could live in.

all of that before getting photographed flying around in a private jet.

Might reflect on his intelligence

She's right. That's how it is. Seems wrong but remember that the coppers family have been paid compo and that boss guy is from one of the families that run this country. It may seem wrong but it is what it is. Not going to change.

By the way. He's hardly hiding. He lives down the road from my mum in London. Frequents addies cafe in earls court haha. He doesn't need to hide. You'll never see that kid behind bars. To be fair, it was an accident but he should have stopped and faced the music.

Where are all the tv.com posters who previously said this monk would never be returned to Thailand to face charges? Come on -- you can admit you were wrong. It won't hurt -- much. 555

I don't excuse "accidents" caused by drunks.

...no mention of the suitcases of cash he supposedly transported to The States.....???

...at one point 'hundreds of millions of dollars' had been mentioned....???

...and no questions about whom he was working for...???

Welcome back. You have a reservation at the Bangkok Hilton. Enjoy your stay.

I'm going to place my money on 2 years max, if any at all. Possibly due to an error with the investigation / botched police work.

Lots of cash is about to change hands.

Interesting that in photos seen elsewhere the accused is wearing monk's robes, I was under the impression  he was disrobed and as such not allowed to wear those robes.

Was on the same flight the other night and he was indeed still in his saffron robes. Managed a couple fuzzy pix...

Did he and his distinguished police escort fly 1st class considering his hiso standing or did he travel on ECY class, at Thai taxpayer's expense whatsoever....

Not 1st class. Was on the same flight and they were all in the very last rows of economy (lower deck of the A380). First to board and last to deplane.
