webfact
Flood-torn Buriram & Maha Sarakham get temporary connecting bridge BURIRAM, 14 August 2017 (NNT) - Various agencies of Buriram and Maha Sarakham have jointly opened a temporary bridge linking the two provinces that were recently separated by the waters of a heavy flood. Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center Region 6, Buriram Rural Road Office and villagers spent 10 days putting up a Bailey bridge. Buriram Governor Anusorn Kaewkangwan, Vice-Governor of Maha Sarakham Pusit Somjit and the chiefs of relevant agencies took part in its opening. The bridge enables the residents of Don Kok subdistrict of Buriram and Nong Mek subdistrict of Maha Sarakham to travel to each other’s provinces again. The massive flood, brought on by the storm Sonca damaged the old bridge, forcing the residents to cross Lam Phang Choo canal by raft. A permanent bridge will be constructed when the situation returns to normal. -- nnt 2017-08-
