Thai lady attacked by foreign woman in McDonald's Khao San - but police won't do anything

Relatives of a Thai lady attacked in McDonald's say the police would do nothing to help. They claimed the police said the store was "off-limits" and persuaded them not to make an issue of it.

Now they have posted CCTV footage of the incident.

The younger relative of the victim posted the footage to Mem Pho Dam. It showed an unidentified foreign woman leaving the store.

She grabs the hair of the sitting Thai then aims a kick at her head before leaving the store.

The poster said that the attack was completely unprovoked. The sister was just out with friends talking about a tutoring arrangement. They did not know each other at all.

They said they went to police who refused to do anything saying that McDonald's was off limits. They advised the victim to go home and rest and let the matter drop.

They then asked if she would accept an apology but this was not good enough as the attack was serious.

So they went back to McDonald's and got the CCTV evidence.

Then they went back to Chana Songkhram police who again refused saying they wouldn't take the report saying it was best if she dropped the whole thing.

The posters asked "Why not?", reported Tnews.

Yes, Macdonald's, like the US embassy, is considered to be foreign soil.

Disgusting attack in the young woman, just because it seems that the woman was angry about something and, like a child kicking a chair or table when he/she can't get their own way, she decides to grab the hair and violently pull the young Thai lady to the floor and then proceed to kick her in the head, all for no reason whatsoever. The young thai lady should take this higher than the kao saan police station if they won't do anything and complain to the higher ranks in the police headquarters.

From time-to-time I read statements from Senior Police Officers that they *must* involve themselves in particular cases, because they are duty-bound "to uphold the Law".

 - But it would certainly appear (to the naive) that they pick-and-choose which parts of the Law are actually to be upheld.

Did the thai girl say something to the attacker on the way out? It seemed like she turned abruptly to confront her. Regardless, still no excuse for a physical attack.

It looked like the two farang males were winding the farang woman up to do something for whatever reason. And pointing towards where the Thai lady was sitting.

Disgraceful assault - she needs arresting and prosecuting then if convicted deported after serving her sentence. Simple scum that no country wants.

But no money in it for the BiB so not remotely interested.

That group of farangs were very lucky that there were no groups of Thais around to react. Otherwise they might have found themselves on the receiving end.

Yep - I thought that too. Sort of egging her on and saying we'll film it.

Is it a case of mistaken identity? Looks like she may have had an issue with the girl to her left at the counter. That girl has very similar hair to the girl sitting near the door.

The farang woman seemed to be rather "mouthy" and was possibly speaking loudly.  The Thai woman may have said something to her about her loudness either before or as she was passing by..  Regardless, the assault was unwarranted.

It was also nearly 3am this morning ...possibly everyone was a bit "mau"

The 4 foreign idiots need a beat down.  The 2 guys seemed to be daring her to do something to the Thai kid. The police should immediately arrest them an turn them over for deportation. We certainly don't need scum like this in Thailand.

So, if there is a murder, a rape, any kind of assault, that occurs in this place, nothing will happen?

Sounds like an invitation for all drug dealers as well.

"The posters asked "Why not?"

That is a very naive question from a Thai citizen!

Horse manure. Embassies are supposed to be the sovereign soil of their country--dependent upon the bilateral agreements of the countries involved.  McDonald's has no such diplomatic element; although, the franchise owners may have some form of police influence.

Either there's more to this than what's reported or the attacker is mentally unstable and needs to be detained for the public's and her own safety. She was very fortunate on this occasion, normally she'd have been severely beaten up for getting into an altercation with a Thai, even if it wasn't her fault.

Whatever, the police need to get off their useless lazy arises and do something.

No. Leave the beating up of others to the Thais. Plenty of that going on already, and it's their country.
