rooster59
Special branch arrest big "E-Cigarette Agent" in Kanchanaburi raid Image: Daily News Special branch 191 cops in association with Kanchanaburi police have taken down what Daily News said was a big player in the e-cigarette business. Evidence worth three million baht was seized and displayed at the police station downtown in a big show of force. E-cigarettes are illegal in Thailand with penalties as severe as five years for selling equipment and ten years for producing. Trisak Sirichumsaeng was arrested in Pak Praek Road after search warrants were enacted at two premises in the western Thai town. A large amount of evidence was on display at the Kanchanaburi police station for the press conference. This included 56 contraptions for smoking and 2,840 bottles of vaping fluid. Trisak admitted his crimes in every detail. He was peddling his drugs to users through the Line application and a website. He would then dispatch orders through the post and receive money via bank transfer. The goods had come from Bangkok and head of special branch Surachet Hakpan had ordered action in the illegal trade. Thechook
Is Thailand the only country in the world where they are ilegal. In Australia many thousands of smokers have kicked the habit with the aid of E cigs. Not good for the government who lose millions when people stop smoking and the tobacco companies. Thechook
Pssssst, Prayuth they have these things on the market also and they are undetectable. Might be an idea to get special branch onto it now before you lose to much in taxes. Full strip searches of all at airports may be required also. That is modern day Thailand. Given Thai government's introverted nature and lack of nimble minds, it does not know enough to be embarrassed by this. Once they've figured out how to get their cut, and get a close family member, or even themselves heavily into the business,, they'll determine that they ARE in fact safer,, and therefore no longer illegal,,, But before that day comes,, they'll of course hem and haw around about it, so they can tease thicker brown envelopes from the Thai tabacoo companies, to KEEP them illegal,,, IMHO anyway,,,,

Australians who wish to "vape" must either: 1. buy the ready made stuff from New Zealand (vapourium.nz) which usually works OK as (probably) customs don't care if for personal use only OR 2. buy the "flavours" in Australia (e.g. vapeking.com.au) and then buy the nicotine from China (www.hiliq.com) (for personal use only) and then mix the two yourself. The tobacco lobby has (naturally) bought off aussie pollies to keep the tobacco profits at usual levels and ensure minimal competition. HHTel
Meanwhile, back in the UK, the Department of Health, having completed their studies agree: Quote Comment The government has said that the persecution of the users of e-cigarette technology should stop. The Department of Health today outlined a Five Year Tobacco Control plan for England with the goal that the proportion of the population who smoke tobacco products should fall to 12 per cent by 2022, down from 15.5 per cent today. Routine bans of vaping products at the workplace or in public spaces should cease, the DoH notes, in order to “maximise the availability of safer alternatives to smoking”. The last Tobacco Control Plan for England was published in 2011*. Since then, there’s been a grassroots revolution in public health. Quote Last year, the Royal College of Physicians said that the public health strategy of harassing users of safer alternatives should probably stop. Vaping was behind the acceleration in smoking cessation, a fall far greater than the ban on smoking in pubs.

Guitar God
E cigarettes are safer than cigarettes. Thailand allows the sale of deadly cigarettes and all they require is a ID to buy them and photos of tumors and tracheostomies. They allow the most deadly form of nicotine delivery, and threaten ten year prison sentences for people who use epens to try to quit smoking. I read the government profits handsomely off the sale of coffin nails. Is this true? Is greed the only reason? Has anyone seen any logical reason why they want to ban epens
