webfact Posted August 28, 2017 Share Posted August 28, 2017 PM’s Office gets update on Ko Samui underwater pipeline project BANGKOK, 28 August 2017 (NNT) - The Prime Minster’s Office has received an update on the plan to install an underwater pipeline to carry water to Ko Samui. Permanent Secretary of the PM’s Office Jirachai Moontongroy has attended a meeting with Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment Wijarn Simachaya, and officials of Ko Samui District as well as related agencies to discuss the underwater pipeline installation between Surat Thani Province and Ko Samui. The project involves the installation of 125 kilometers of pipeline to bring water from the mainland to the island. Once operational, it is estimated that 24,000 cubic meters of water will be delivered to the island regularly before the volume is boosted to 48,000 cubic meters in 2020. Mr. Jirachai said today that the project will help achieve security of the water supply on Ko Samui and benefit the island’s tourism industry, although the Provincial Waterworks Authority will have to be careful with the construction plan and to make sure it has the least impact on the environment while standing ready to implement environmental rehabilitation and other social responsibility plans as required. -- nnt 2017-08-28 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rolf2009 Posted August 28, 2017 Share Posted August 28, 2017 Soon there will be no tourists who need water. When the waste super Gau happens, all the tourists will be gone in a blink. Should be mandatory for every one on the island (even tourists) to have at least one look to the incinerator in Hua Thanon. Such a shame for this island. samuijimmy Posted August 28, 2017 Share Posted August 28, 2017 This was the dredging barges back in January, out from the Conrad Hotel, This has been sitting at the end of the Nathon pier since at least March Down near the snake farm area towards Hau Thanon they were laying pipes months ago too. Slow but sure progress! ... In my country, "laying pipe" has a second meaning... And I suspect that is why the Bangkok VIPs were in Samui .
